Chanel’s Highlights From Paris Fashion Week

Paris Week, Chanel & Haute Couture

October is always a fantastic time of year for any fashionista as it’s when the world’s greatest fashion houses gather at Paris Fashion Week to preview their most eye-catching looks for spring 2017.

And once again, Chanel managed to confirm their reputation has being one of the biggest names in haute couture thanks to a collection that made a break with the casino-inspired theme of the past to embrace our new digital futures.

Karl Lagerfeld

It’s thanks to the unwavering genius of Karl Lagerfeld that Chanel’s latest collection managed to create such a splash. The visionary designer has been the creative director for the fashion house since 1983 and part of his appeal is the way that he manages to constantly surprise the fashion world.

Even the interior of the Grand Palais in Paris was elaborately turned into a giant data storage unit with processors and wiring providing a retro-futurist theme that was continued throughout the show’s collection. With models dressed in robot masks and pure white Chanel suits, and a riot of bright neon colours, techno styles and baseball caps, the show was a world away from the chic casino stylings found at Lagerfeld’s A/W 2015 show in Paris.

The fact that Lagerfeld spent time investigating classic casino culture was all the more timely as the industry has enjoyed a real renaissance thanks to the likes of WinTingo Svenska Casino with his excellent customer support who offer an introduction to these iconic games that’s certainly less exclusive than the celebrity guest lists found at the rest this month’s Paris Fashion Week.

2016’s fashion extravaganza once again saw the latest generation of fashionable celebrities like Lily-Rose Depp and Frances Bean Cobain worshipping at the altar of haute couture. And with a series of It Girls like Edie Campbell, Catherine McNeil and Lindsey Wixson parading the catwalk, the show reinforced Chanel’s reputation for gathering the elite of the fashion world.

But it was the celebration of casual styles and bold futuristic colours that really showed the brand’s willingness to experiment with new looks. With classic ballet flats and block-heeled pumps dominating the footwear selection, and the hip-hop inspired blend of ponytails and digital prints providing a new lease of life to the B-Boy generation, it was yet another masterclass from Lagerfeld.

And with even a new Chanel handbag being capable of displaying illuminated personalised messages, it shows that it’s not just those classic casino games that are in thrall to Silicon Valley.
